Penecale's book, Trust in Passing Hours, was selected as one of the "best of show" books in a 2011 exhibition at the Davis Orton Gallery. The gallery presented twenty photobooks selected through an international photobook competition. Photographs by four “best of show” artists were exhibited: David Morris Cunningham, Jonathan Lipkin, Sara Macel, and Amanda Penecale.

Penecale's book, Shadows of Invisible things, focuses on feeling, light and color. "We leave an imprint on the spaces we inhabit, as they leave an imprint on us. Finding these quiet spaces gives me a chance to experience what is left behind."
